What to Know About The Mentoring Relationship!
Spiritual or Christ Centered Mentoring is a process through which the mentor offer his or her experience or expertise from a biblical perspective; guiding the mentee into living a victorious Christian life. The mentor also offers support to individuals that are less experienced than they are.
A mentor is typically referred to as “an experienced and trusted advisor” and can serve as a teacher, counselor, and advocate to those looking up to them for guidance. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the perfect example of a spiritual mentor.
A Christ Centered Mentor provides the following to the individual he or she serves:
• Encouragement: It is pertinent to uplift the hearts of your mentees; a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on go a long way.
• Compassion: Showing empathy and genuine concern in the things that matter to your mentee should always be visible in the relationship.
• Prayer: Be ready to stand in the gap for your student/mentee when necessary.
• Training: The mentee must be able to disciple and mentor others as a result of what they have learned from you.
• Support: Your students/mentees must be confident knowing that you are there to direct and support them in their personal and professional pursuits.

"Fostering
a relationship is crucial in mentoring. Be aware that the mentoring relationship
is personal and confidential; therefore trust will mostly take time to develop."
